That People series uses Google Street View as its source material, deliberately employing the word "That" to highlight the current state of human existence—suggesting a collective presence within this technological empire, a mere slice of life. The deformations and absences of the figures in the work result from the comprehensive image collection process of Google’s street view cars, where the 360-degree camera lens has no intention of focusing on anyone but simply passes by. The faces of pedestrians captured on the street are automatically blurred by AI detection—like a zero-degree gaze of a technological apparatus towards humanity.
