The inspiration comes from traditional Taiwanese red-and-white labels / name stickers. In my school years, teachers and parents often required students to label their belongings with their names to prevent loss. What stands out vividly in my memory is that after I labeled my belongings (to assert ownership), classmates who often bullied me would hesitate or try to peel off the labels when they wanted to take my things. Names, a necessity in communal living, are also self-labels that exist within social and cultural contexts. I write my name on each label and cover my body with these stickers.
