A black cube is embedded in the exhibition wall, with a pair of eye-shaped openings on each side. The center of the black cube features a one-way mirror: the side exposed to bright light acts as a mirror, while the darker side functions as glass. When two viewers simultaneously approach the eye-shaped openings on either side of the wall out of curiosity, one person will see their reflection in the mirror, while the other will see the eyes of the person on the other side. The person seeing another’s eyes up close might be startled by the proximity, while the person on the opposite side is actually looking at their own eyes reflected in the mirror, unaware of the other’s gaze. In this moment of accidental encounter, the impact or reaction triggered by the intersecting gazes of the two unsuspecting viewers completes the work. Each chance encounter results in a new occurrence of the piece.
